MAY YOU A Handmade Quilt for The Childrens Society

This Quilt has been made in response to an article from www.popularpatchwork.com promoting the Childrenrsquos Society 2009 Patchwork Quilt Competition. Four ladies from the forum decided to get together, via emails and post, to make a Quilt for this worthy cause. We are Kerstin, Ros, Helen G and Janet. A theme was agreed on and put together. Kerstin is from Germany, the rest of us are from the UK. It was a requirement of the competition rules to use re cycled fabrics in the Quilt this has been done, although the base of the Quilt is NEW fabric to give it a good strong foundation. Re cycled fabrics were sent to Janet by the ladies amongst these were fabrics from their children, grand children and their own outgrown clothes, old cushions etc, plus embellishments. All the children on the Quilt are made using the re cycled fabrics, the corner squares are from old cushion fabric. Each participant took responsibility for a border, which had to be cream fabric, they then had to put something on this border including the word MAY , somewhere, which links to the Maypole. Starting at the top Ros wishes Children to have PEACE in several languageshellip Janet wishes Children have GOOD FRIENDShellip Kerstin wishes GODS BLESSINGS to be with themhellip Helen wishes the Children LOVE and LAUGHTER. This Quilt has brought four ladies closer together its wish is that Children have a better life. Now it is finished it is to be raffled and the proceeds go to The Childrenrsquos Society. Employees of The Childrenrsquos Society and their families, agencies or other companies having any connection with the production of the draw are ineligible to enter this raffle. Nor can tickets be sold knowingly to someone under the age of 16.nbsp January 2009
